Kia ora and Welcome

 

Andrew and Sara have developed Subtropicals Aotearoa, a subtropical plant nursery and fruit orchard near Waipu, Northland, Aotearoa New Zealand.  We specialise in a wide range of edible bananas, unusual and hard to find heliconia, and ornamental bananas.  

 

Looking after people and the planet is important to us, and we select the best plants for our stock and grow in a spray-free environment.  We incorporate syntropic and permaculture principles in our orchards and believe in feeding the soil to create the best food for people.  We plant and grow what we sell, to learn and share with you our experiences of growing in Aotearoa.  

 

When we're not in the orchards or nursery, we are working on our land, planting native trees and enjoying life in Northland.  It's always a good day to plant a tree or two.
