A key aspect of Subtropicals Aotearoa is our extensive banana plantation, with over 50 varieties of both fruiting and ornamental bananas (musa).  We have yellow bananas, red bananas, striped bananas, cooking bananas, mini bananas, super tall bananas and more.

 

We want to understand more about how to grow bananas at their best in Aotearoa, and what the taste and texture profile of local bananas is.  We are growing bananas outside in the northland sunshine, as well as in our tunnel houses.
