Also called Chico, Sapodilla are very slow growing trees and a real collectors find in Aotearoa.

We suggest growing in pots for a few years, and then planting inside a tunnel house to protect from wind and frost. Strongly suggest not planting outside unless you are in the far north.

Self fertile

Grows slowly to 2-5m in ideal conditions, Prefers well drained soil.

Fruit

Ripe fruit has a slightly gritty texture, like a pear, and a delicious sweet flavour like brown sugar and cinnamon.

Position

Really needs to be inside, or in a sunny and warm location that is sheltered from the wind and frost.

Care

Protect from frost.

All plants are in a 3.5l recycleable plastic pot, unless shown otherwise.
